The Dallas Stars seized a 2-1 series lead in the Western Conference Second Round with a 5-2 victory over the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday at American Airlines Center. Mikko Rantanen led the Stars with a goal and two assists, bringing his playoff totals to nine goals and 18 points. ESPN.com
The game was tied 2-2 entering the third period when Alexander Petrovic scored a controversial go-ahead goal that was upheld after video review. Just 49 seconds later, Rantanen extended the lead with his ninth goal of the playoffs. Roope Hintz and Thomas Harley each contributed a goal and an assist, while Wyatt Johnston added a late goal. For Winnipeg, Kyle Connor and Nino Niederreiter found the net, but the team struggled on the road, with goaltender Connor Hellebuyck allowing five goals on 26 shots. The Jets will look to rebound in Game 4 on Tuesday night in Dallas.
