In a decisive Game 7 showdown on May 18, 2025, the Florida Panthers overwhelmed the Toronto Maple Leafs with a commanding 6–1 victory at Scotiabank Arena, securing their third consecutive berth in the Eastern Conference Final. NHL

After a tightly contested, scoreless first period, the Panthers erupted in the second, netting three goals within a span of 6:24. Defenseman Seth Jones ignited the scoring surge, followed by contributions from Brad Marchand and Eetu Luostarinen. Marchand, a seasoned playoff performer, tallied a goal and two assists, reaching his 150th career playoff point.  Luostarinen mirrored Marchand's output with a goal and two assists, while team captain Aleksander Barkov added two assists to the tally. The Maple Leafs, who had initially taken a 2–0 series lead, were unable to contain Florida's momentum in the decisive game. The loss marks another disappointing playoff exit for Toronto, despite a promising start to the series. The Panthers' victory sets up an Eastern Conference Final matchup against the Carolina Hurricanes, who advanced after defeating the Washington Capitals. NHL

Adding to the game's intensity, veteran NHL referee Chris Rooney sustained a facial injury after being struck by a player's stick, highlighting concerns about official safety during high-stakes matches.

With this emphatic win, the Panthers continue their pursuit of a second consecutive Stanley Cup Final appearance, demonstrating resilience and depth as they advance further into the playoffs.
