Top 5 Left Wingers - Fantasy Hockey

Being able to select the right players for your fantasy team is very important to succeeding. When it comes to picking left-wingers, there are a lot of options as today's NHL is very skilled. Here are the top 5 left-wingers to look at when it comes to your fantasy draft.

5. Alex Ovechkin

Ovechkin is recognized as the best goal-scorer of this generation and possibly of all time. Posting 9 50-goal seasons, one 65-goal season, and multiple Hart trophies as league Most Valuable Player. He is always a great choice when it comes to fantasy because you know what you are going to get. He is currently on the hunt to pass Wayne Gretzky as the all-time leading goal scorer. Having this goal in mind, expect his teammates to pass him the puck, especially on the power play. If he is available mid to late in the first round, take him.

4. Kirill Kaprizov

One of the quickest players to reach superstar status, Kaprizov is heading into this season with high expectations. In 2021-22, he posted a career-high 47 goals and 61 assists in 81 games. With Ryan Hartman recently signed, their top line will be ready to go for this year. Kaprizov is a dominant winger with a strong IQ in the offensive zone. Playing alongside Matt Boldy, who is quickly emerging as an all-star in this league will help Kirill with his offensive numbers, especially on the top power-play unit. If Kaprizov is available mid-first round, he should be an option.

3. Brady Tkachuk

Might be one of the most exciting teams to watch this year, especially their captain Brady Tkachuk. Brady has been a force ever since he entered the league. He posted a career-high 83 points and 126 penalty minutes. He is the type of player who is not afraid to mix it up in the corners and stand up for his teammates. This is why he has earned the “C” on his sweater. If you are playing a “category-styled” fantasy league, Brady will be a perfect fit for your fantasy team.

2. Jason Robertson

One of the hottest goal scorers on the planet, Robertson posted 46 goals last season, ranking him 7th in the NHL. Having great linemates like Joe Pavelski and Roope Hintz contributed to Robertson’s success. Robertson is a big forward who finds the right areas at the right time. He scores goals in big moments and plays a huge factor in why the Dallas Stars will be a contender this year. At the age of 24, Robertson hasn’t even hit his prime yet. With a high-powered Dallas Stars team, expect Robertson to take another step in his game and should be one of the first left-wingers to go in the draft.

1. Matthew Tkachuk

A huge year for Matthew and the Florida Panthers last season. Being able to go on a run to the Stanley Cup Finals after beating the best regular season team in NHL history. Matthew Tkachuk is a versatile player who can score goals, throw the body around, and get under other player’s skin. He had a career-high 109 points, which put him 7th in the league. Playing alongside Aleksander Barkov, who is one of the best two-way centres in the league compliments Matthew’s game quite well. Matthew Tkachuk is entering his prime as he is only 25 years old so expect his game only to get better. He should be the first left winger to go as he can help fantasy teams in almost every category.
