With the 2019-2020 season coming to a haul due to Covid-19, will Alex Ovechkin be able to catch Wayne Gretzky's goal total of 894?

This is what Alex Ovechkin said on #espn back in December of 2019 when asked what he would do if he caught #Gretzky's goal record.
“ You're probably never going to see me on the ice again. He joked”
What are Ovechkin's chances of catching this record?
When it comes to goal scoring, the first name that comes to mind, is Alex Ovechkin. He has been dominating the National Hockey League in goal scoring ever since he was drafted back in 2004. Since his entrance into the #NHL, he has won: 8 Maurice Rocket Richard Trophies, 3 Ted Lindsay Trophies, 3 Hart Trophies, an Art Ross Trophy and best of all, a Stanley Cup Champion in 2018 with the Washington Capitals.
One of the biggest discussions in hockey is "will Alex Ovechkin break Gretzky's goal record?" When asking around, you will get mixed opinions on this answer. There are many factors that need to fall in place in order for Alex Ovechkin to become to all time goal scorer in the National Hockey League.
2019-20 season in jeopardy?
These remaining games on the schedule are crucial for Alex to catch Wayne. With the pace he was on, this could add another 8-10 goals on his total. We will have to wait and see what the #NHL does with the rest of this season.
Can Ovechkin continue to score at this pace for the next 4-5 years?
Another big factor when it comes to Ovechkin catching Wayne Gretzky. He currently has 706 goals in 1152 NHL games. He is scoring at a pace of 0.61 goals per game and if he wants to have the chance of being the top goal scorer, he will need to score at this pace for the next 4-5 years.
Thoughts?
Personally, I would like to see Ovechkin break the goal record. He's one of the players that I grew up watching and with a lot of other records that will never get touched, this is the closest one we got. At the age of 34, he still surprises people on how much he can still put it in the back of the net.
